Know Yourself to Lead Yourself

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.

5

Discuss the reality it creates here:

People feel like they are living under my microscope. They don’t always tell me the whole truth for fear I might criticize them or their work.

3

What is the action you typically do?

I become judgmental. I will correct whatever is out of place and make it obvious I am not pleased.

4

Discuss consequences (i.e. results) here:

People feel like they can’t meet my standards. Why try if I’m going to correct them anyway?

1

List tendencies here:

I have a tendency to lead with critique. I can spot issues and want to correct or fix something if it is wrong or out of place.

2

When and why do they occur?

It occurs when I become aware of something that is ‘not right’, but especially if it affects me personally or I’m associated with the final outcome.

5

Discuss the reality it creates here:

The situation gets corrected or fixed. I get to bring my natural strengths without judging those around me.

3

What is the action you typically do?

I triage the situation. How critical is it that this be fixed? Is it the right time to offer critique? Consider my tone, move on or remain quiet. If I need to say something, I try… “How can I help?”

4

Discuss consequences (i.e. results) here:

People are usually relieved. They want my help and value my critique, but not if it comes with a scolding or judgmental attitude.
